Mark's Story

Life Hello, Well after graduaton I went to work for Chrysler in the fall of 1971 and it was hard at first.I worked on the assembly line, and the schedules made it a seven day a week job. I had very little personal time and really lost track of most of my highschool friends. The nite life on the other hand was great. I really got into the Disco scene. The drinking age was 18 and we had Muscle Cars, not to mention The Sexual Revolution. What more could you ask for? I met Eva my future wife of 30+ years,in march of 72, a cute little gal from Central Square and she and I married a few years later. We had our first child in 1977 a girl ,and four years later my son was born. We bought a home in Cicero in 1977 and still reside there today. Both our children are single so no grandchildren are on the horizon. The nest is empty. I retired from Chrysler in July 2006 after 35 years at the plant. I became a jobsetter in 1981 and held that position for 25 years.I can honestly say I had the best job in the plant and I liked it. But 35 years is enough.I haven't ever in my life been without a job . I started washing dishes at the Gotham Motor Inn at the age of 14 with working papers. I became a waiter and worked in housekeeping when I turned 18 years old. When the Gothem went out of business I went to work at Justs Sunoco Station.I really liked all my jobs and who knows maybe i'll try another. In 1991 I went on a hunting trip to Montana and fell in love with that state. I and my son have been back several times to hunt Elk and Mule deer. I plan on doing alot of trips out west, at least as long as my health holds out Update*** Well I found out being retired at 54 doesn't cut it .Just plain bored. So I went down to the end of the road and helped my friend rebuild his marina,I learned how to weld and work with heavy equiptment. It was hard work but we made a pretty good marina and we are proud of it. When that...Expand for more
was finished I and an old work mate from Chrysler decided to get our class "B" license with passenger and air brake endorsments . So we went to work for Phoenix Schools Still no grandchildren as mine are stll single and loveing it. Montana is still as big and beautiful as when I fell in love with it and will be there hopefully this fall and every other fall as long as I hold out. Life is good!!! Update*** I reretired from Phoenix Schools and I went to work for Caz Limo and drive tour bus. My wife and I run trips to Atlantic City twice a month and we just love the quality time together. She also works for Caz and is my hostess on the bus.We really have a good time with our customers and look forward to our next trip. It is quite a change from working in a factory. Life just keeps on getting better!!!! UPDATE The grandchildren have arrived ,two boys one from my daughter and one from my son ,5 months apart and what a hand full. It has been a while since I visited this site so some more. Caz limo went under and I went to drive for Ultimate Arrival, They also went under so I now drive for Hale Transportation out of Clinton N.Y. My wife and I still do Atlantic City trips at least once a month and still enjoy the place and the people. The boys are age 2 and almost 2 and we enjoy them very much, but we see no more on the horizon so two will have to do. My son and I bought 50 acres and house in West Monroe and we are working on it .He wants to move in soon. My daughter bought a home in Liverpool and will close on it soon. It will be nice to have the whole family settled by fall of 2018.. My mom still lives in East Syracuse and is getting along very well for 96 years old. My dad pasted a few years ago and I still miss him.
