Mark's Story
Life
Well, lets see... I'm in my mid-fourties, Married to Karen and have a teen-age daughter, Caitlyn. Karen and Caity are multi-talented artistically. I'm not, but make up for it with my command of sarcasm. ;-) I'm yer basic secular humanist scientist type. I'm a physicist by training with a Ph.D. in Solid State Physics. I'm really big on social gaming of many sorts: board & party games, cards, and roleplaying.
I work for Ford at our Research and Innovation Center. I did scanning probe microscopy for about my first 8...Expand for more
years at Ford. I then switched to Risk and Uncertainty Management, because it better matched my changing interests. I've worked on things like market risk management for Ford's bond portfolio and foreign exchange exposures, sales forecast uncertainty, the value of manufacturing flexibility, steel contract strategy, and other modeling that addresses risk-related business issues. One area that fascinates me, and that I have done just a little bit with, is using intelligent agents to model marketing and/or strategic systems.
