Mark's Story
I was born in Germany and came to the promised land when I was 12. Couldn't speak English...but learned quick! Went to Durfee for 11th and 12th grade and made some wonderful friends...I joined the Air Force for almost 10 years and lived in England, Spain, Italy, Germany, Japan, and Honduras. I became an obsessed student of life and peak performance. Studied leadership around the globe. Went to school forever and finally got away with a graduate degree in Organizational Leadership...Then I really started to learn! Worked in a number of fire depts - the ultimate team building experience. I was then hired as the Fire Chief at Vandenberg. It's the West Coast "Cape Canaveral". It's called Space Country and is the busiest space port on the planet. I work for 130 of the world's finest firefighters and have the privledge of leading the best in the nation. ng recognized in Washington DC... three of the last six years, as the best in the business. We weren't eligible for the years in-between. We were recently internationally accredited, one of only a hundred depts in the world to achieve this milestone...My mom, brother and sister still live in MA, and I moved to CA in 2000.

Life outnumbers you, outguns you and outlasts you...The only thing left to do is attack! I do my best to grab every opportunity by the throat and don't settle for anything, except getting it all. I'm an eternal optimist that sees the glass as overflowing. I love animals, music, books, travel...and people. Life is a comedy with dramatic and occasionally tragic moments. I never look back and always try to see beyond the horizon...I call this place home. Life is great...and getting better all the time.
