Mark's Story
Spent a year at RPI, then finished up at SUNY Albany. Joined A&P as a store manager, which forced me to move out of Troy and up to North Adams.
In 1980, I joined Stop & Shop as a store manager, and I moved to Northampton, and then to Lenox. In '83 I moved down to Middletown CT when I was promoted to General Merchandise Sales Manager for S&S's Connecticut division. In '85 I moved up to Boston to develop and then operate S&S's chain of video rental stores.
I left Stop & Shop and New England in 1997, moving to Bucks County, PA taking a job as SVP, Operations for West Coast Video (a then-public chain of ~450 video rental stores). In '99 I moved cross country accepting a position as VP/membership & strategy for what was then VSDA (the not-for-profit trade association for the home entertainment industry)....Expand for more
Following a merger in 2007, VSDA became the Entertainment Merchants Associatoin (EMA), and in 2009 I was promoted to Executive Vice-President.
That's my career. My personal life's been much less interesting. I'm still single after all these years, and living in the Eastern San Fernando Valley (Los Angeles area). As I always have, I'm staying really busy working, but finding time to travel (both on biz and pleasure) and get back to the East Coast frequently - both up north and down to Florida to visit my dad.
<Update - I got married last July to a wonderful woman - Julie Harris - from Los Angeles. Julie is a middle school teacher and has her own business making and selling bridal veils and tiaras. We bought a new home in Studio City, CA. I'm happier than ever!>
That's my story! So far, anyway...
