Mark's Story
After H.S., I attended Marquette University for a semester and then traveled west to California where I attended Loyola University of Los Angeles and graduated in 1976. During these years, I made trips to the Pacific...visited my father in the Philippines, worked at U-Tapao Air Base in Thailand, toured the Philippines, Hong Kong and Japan, and developed my tennis game. I was in fraternity in college and made a lot of great friends. After college, I went to work as a bank examiner for the OCC (US Treasury) and then became a banker in Beverly Hills. Nice title but no money! In 1979, I relocated to Dallas, TX and went to work for the US Chamber of Commerce raising $s from major companies. I met my wife there, and had a great three years working, playing tennis, and resuming my passion for skiing. In 1982, I married and returned to D.C. with the U.S. Chamber and ran a major capital campaign for them. In 1987, I left the Chamber to become VP and then Sr. VP of American Trucking Associa...Expand for more
tions. Learned a lot more about trucks than I ever imagined I would! In December of 1990 I started my own business, Leading Authorities... an events company which is now a major lecture agency and meeting design and production firm. We are located in DC with offices in Chicago and Singapore. Look us up at leading authorities plus the .com. My passion is my business, family, skiing and, most especially, traveling. In the last 10 years I have made many trips to Europe, Asia, Latin America, India, and Africa. I have enjoyed elephant riding in Thailand, biking in Laos, skiing in Switzerland, sipping beer in Buenos Aires, and walking in London. I stay pretty fit w/ a regular exercise regime and try to read as much as I can. I am also a sucker for gadgets...PDAs, iPads, iPods, etc. Have 3 children....2 girls and a boy... and now an 3-year old grand daughter. Very lucky. Life is good. It is amazing how quickly time passes and it's always fun reconnecting with friends from the past.
