Mark's Story

So, they want my story, huh? Sure, why not, nothing to hide here. Enjoy! What ever happened to Mark Hart? It all happened very fast so there was not time to even say good bye or think let alone to plan much because the school year was about to start. It was rumored that there was going to be 'bussing' so Mom and Dad moved the family to Alabama just before the 12th grade. My Senior year on co-op and thoughts of a Tool & Die career went down the tubes. I didn't figure anyone missed me much since I was so quiet. Having undiagnosed ADHD I was on sensory overload most of the time growing up and subject to overthinking everything. It didn't help any when I got to Lincoln and every time my older sister saw me in the hall announced, 'there's my weird brother'. After the move it was very difficult adjusting to a new culture in the deep south where I was the 'dam yankee' to some, yet a novelty to others. I did get elected 'Best all around', as a class favorite, but it was a small class. I found no work there so I ended up leaving after graduation and jumping from job to job for a while trying to 'find myself', and getting high sometimes. I finally had a defining moment and got into Jesus in a very real way. I suppose it would be more accurate to say Jesus got into me. I was healed of a broken foot, quit smoking and drinking, all in one instant. It blew away all my friends. I married to my girlfriend and we had a couple of kids. I was heavily involved in church for a few years. I studied the Bible a lot and God showed me many things that are passed over these days. One of the most interesting things was baptism in the 'name of Jesus'. (Acts 2:38. It adds a whole new level of being 'in Jesus Name', which almost every one 'says' when praying. Food for thought! Do the mat...Expand for more
h... Mathew 28:19 + Acts 2:38 = One God with one name. Soon after I got Jesus, I started in a Construction company. I was pretty good at everything I touched electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and painting. I ate it up. God increased me. I went from a helper to running jobs within a year. Ten years after my marriage, we divorced... not my choice. She wanted to be absolute ruler. I did not see that coming. Apparently her religion, unlike my own, could come and go at her whims. After the divorce was difficult... refusing to rebound and again without a home. I have had some close calls with love since then but they didn't stick. The one who would have been lasting died of a brain aneurysm. I never remarried, but I am happy. I enjoy believing God and growing in faith. I see where being singe is a help in avoiding drama and keeping focused. I am a grandfather seven times over. All my children (and that child of an ex) live within two miles. Most of us go together on family vacations. We are going to Washington DC in 2018. For about fifteen years after the divorce I worked from an ad in the paper doing wall paper, paint and minor carpentry. I felt like God was providing the people I worked for and I met many, some influential. During my slow season I would work on a project to stay busy.. first furniture, automotive and eventually a fixer upper, then another, and another... Now I rent some houses in the Chattanooga area and help friends and relatives with their homes from time to time. My current project between keeping up property is fixing up a small box truck into a well insulated, good mpg, camper. I still haven't figured out the details. I thought it might be fun to travel some. I still don't know what I'm going to be when I grow up.. one day at a time. How are YOU guys doin?
