Mark's Story
Life
Personal:
After leaving school I began working in the computer industry. in 1969 I married my wife Debra -- we will be celebrating our 35th anniversary this September. We moved to the San Francisco / Silicon Valley area in 1973 where we settled down and raised our two sons (and various dogs and cats). Our sons are grown and married, and we have one grandson and one on the way. Both of our sons and their wives live close by.
Professional:
I am currently the managing director of Leslie Ventures, a private investment company. I am also a Lecturer at Stanford Graduate School of Business and Stanford University Graduate Engineering.

In 2000 Veritas was the tenth largest independent software company by revenue, third largest by market capitalization, and achieved the distinction of becoming a Fortune 1000 company.
From 1980 until 1990 I served as president and chief executive officer of two Silicon Valley high- tech start up companies. Prior experience included sales management, sales executive, systems engineer, and OS programmer.
Mark currently serves on the boards of Avaya Corporation (NYSE:AV) and Network Appliance (NASDQ: NTAP) and a number of privately held high-technology corporations and non-profit organizations.
Educational:
I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in physics and mathematics from New York University in 1966 and completed Harvard Business School's program for management development in 1980.
