Mark's Story

A continuation - 19 June 2023 A Father's Reality in War - Banker Onestratus, who lost his son in the battles, from the front: "Kyiv is not like the capital of a warring country. He lives his life - cafes, restaurants, smiling people. And I brought the corpse. On June 1, Ostap (21-year-old son of Onistrat - Ed.) had a service anniversary - he dreamed of finding a tank and destroying it. And an FPV drone flew into him during the task. Now that I'm doing nothing, time stops for me... I attended the funeral (of my son - Ed.) in Kyiv. Kyiv lives its own life. This is not the capital of a warring country. Cafes, restaurants, young people. Who smiles, everything about them is cool. And I brought the corpse. And how many of those corpses arrive? I arrived at the cemetery, and there was a whole field of these people. And everyone has a deadline. Some are 50, some are 20, some are 30, some are 40. And people there also sit, as they sat, live, as they live. This is so true. The truth will tear everyone apart. Who is to the right, who is to the left". The reality of continued war In Ukraine! Greetings I hope all my friends are doing well and your families healthy. Prayers and good thoughts sent your way from here in south eastern Ukraine. I have been here for 1 year plus as part of Air Assault unit with MEDEVAC capabilities. I also am the chief instructor for a Combat Trauma First Aid (CFTA) course taught to civilians and Army, Territorial, Volunteer and Police battalions. As of 1 June my team has taught over 5000+ students in more than 75 classes. From Julie in California and Lisa in New York, who are are best logisticians and fund raising coordinators, we look for humanitarian support for the people here in Ukraine. Med kits, med supplies, monetary donations. The year has drained funds and supplies. Many units especially, Territorial Defense forces,...Expand for more
just go without. Write to me off site and I will send a video of our CTFA work in Ukraine. Watch the video and lend a hand, send prayers that this war will be over soon and Ukraine can rebuild and heal. I really hope to be able to come home on leave sometime in Nov 2023. We all prepare for the counter offensive and the battles to force the Russians out of Ukraine. We carry out our humanitarian missions to regions and cities that have come under horrendous Russian artillery and missile strikes. Thousands have been injured and many have died. Children asleep at night and then a cruise missile enters the top floors of their apartments and destroys everything. This is the reality of modern war in Ukraine. Deployed to evac soldiers from the Red zone and hoping we can stabilize horrific wounds - amputations, burns, multiple gunshot wounds, concussions and trauma on an unimagjnable scale. Please peruse the pictures and comments. The war is real. As I repeatedly state, the US suffered 1 9/11 attack...it is 9/11 EVERDAY throughout Ukraine. On any given day or night there are 5-10 air raid sirens. Our mobile phones light up with ALERT messages that Russian bombers have taken off from airfields a thousand miles away and will approach their missile launch points in an hour. Once the missiles are launched the tracking starts and more sirens and phone alerts to head to shelter. Missile strikes on MAJOR CITIES in 2023. Building collapsing, explosions from 1000 pound warheads tearing lives apart. Look at the pictures. Recently in Dnipro, a large industrial city on the Dnieper River, missiles destroyed buildings and 5 children ages 2- 16 were wounded. two died. 13 others were wounded. Again send me a note, ask questions and help if you can. I am the American in Kryvyi Rih. Slava Ukraini! Gerome Slava! My love and strength to all of you. God Bless America!
