Mark's Story
Life
I have been married now since 1969(with no breaks in service) to Barbara A. Tuttle from Plymouth, IN. We raised two daughters who have both passed in 1998 from Cystic Fibosis. We have three grandchildren that we adore. We adopted one grandson (Dalton) on Mar 31, 2003. (Deadbeat Dad) We live in Sparta, WI. Barb built a business in 1989, Pines Kennel, Boarding and Grooming. She takes care of pets while owners are away and I became the full time groomer.
I always wanted to be a Mechanic when I grew up, my family and friends thought that was a Reasonable idea, and as it turned out, they were right, but that was only the beginning.
My military career spanned a bit over 20 years from 1968 to 1988. I rebuilt heavy engineer equipment (dozers, cranes, and big stuff like that), was an Atomic Demolition Specialist, and a Personnel Sergeant. I retired as a Master Sergeant (E-8) after 20 years of active duty in Nov 1988. I worked in the Federal Civil Service from 1989 to 2004. During my civil service days, I operated a classified world wide command and control system commu...Expand for more
nications center for the Plans and Operations Division at Fort McCoy, WI. When my supervisor moved on, I graduated into his position and became a writer for the last 12 years of my career. I wrote mobilization plans and developed mobilization exercises for what was at the time the largest mob station in the country, units and soldiers from 26 states and Peurto Rico. During a downsizing at the fort I was given the opportunity to retire early and so, I retired as a GS-11 after 15 years.
I then worked at Home Depot for a year followed by a local furnture and appliance store for another year followed by a couple of years as a Design and Estimating planner for construction projects at Ft. McCoy. During another downsizing period, contractor changeovers, and layoff periods, I decided to fully retire from the outside job market and work with Barb in the kennel. I am now a pet groomer.
Any of our classmates or friends from school or military passing through the Sparta, WI area, please look us up and stop in for a visit. We have a cabin on our property for overnight guests.
