Mark Maybach-Menke:  

Well, here we are; over 50 years have flown by. Many people may be confused because first, my last name when I went to high school was Maybach. I didn't stay at Grant or Prospect that long, spent all my Sophomore and 2/3 our Junior year at Glenbard East, then moved to Chicago and went to Roosevelt from April 1965 until we graduated in the great class of 1966. I went to Grant High the first part of my Freshman year and played on the football team. I lived on Longwood Dr., right on Duck Lake and right behind Jeanne Penkava and a couple of houses from Susan Holmes. I went to Prospect High for the rest of my freshman year, living at 204 N. Russell. We moved that summer to Lombard, where I lived with my grandmother at 233 W. North Ave., just east of Elizabeth & North Ave. I went to Glenbard East and played football my sophomore year. I had to work my junior year, so I couldn't play anymore. In March of '65 I was caught hitchhiking (I had cut classes). When they found out I lived with my grandmother, even though she did not have "legal" custody, I was forced to move back to Chicago and live with my mom & stepfather. Thus, I finished at Roosevelt, reuniting with kids that I knew from Haugan and Cleveland. I received my B.S. and MBA from DePaul, mostly attending night school. I have been in the elevator industry since 1985. In 1999 I became a GM of a manufacturing company in the industry but resigned in 2006. I currently work from my home in Highland Park, IL as the Midwest and West Coast business development manager for two companies, sister operations of Dewhurst, located in London.
