Mark's Story
Life
Hey Class of '80. It's hard to believe it has been more than 25 years seen we graced the halls of the dear old "BAUM". I hope everyone is doing well, dealing with middle age. I am living in New Jersey, with my wife Terri and our son Patrick Connell. I work for PSE&G, in the Underground Construction Dept., as a cable splicer/line inspector. Due to a severe industrial accident my cable splicing days are numbered. Thirteen thousand volts of electricity will do that to a person. I am involved in several different charities, especially the Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick and the Irish Memorial Inc.. An organization that raised 2.3 million dollars to erect a statue to commemorate the sesquicentennial of the Irish Famine located proudly at Front & Chestnut Sts. in Philadelphia. The picture is of my wife Terri, Patrick(18months)he is now six; and me, of course. It was taken on one of our trips back to Ireland, in August of 2000.
Here we are in 2007. I will add a few new things to my bio. First of all, if you read this and are a classmate or friend, drop me a line. I find it hard to believe that so few from our years in...Expand for more
MAVTHS, are able or willing to write a couple of lines and let others know what you have been up to for the last 27 years or so.
First the bad news! In 2004, I was diagnosed with malignant melanoma. After my surgery and the removal of 50 lymph nodes and their biopsies(35 were cancerous). It was found that the cancer had spread to my perotid gland in my face and removal was necessary. It has been over 2 years since my radiation therapy and have not had a recurrence,so far.
Now the good news! My family and I just returned from a fantastic summer vacation to the British Virgin Isles. We spent seven wonderful days in paradise sailing, snorkling and fishing. We stayed at The Bitter End Yacht Club on Virgin Gorda. I highly recommend this vacation spot for anyone who really wants to get a way from the daily grind.
Hopefully by summer's end we will have completed the purchase of our new home at the shore. It will be great to run into old friends at some of my favorite watering holes. Moore's Inlet "Rest in Peace". I'm really looking forward to the annual All-Class Reunion at Westy's. I hope this years was a success.
