Mark's Story

Life After a busy life driving semis for 30+ years has drawn to a close now is not the time to slow down. Even though my left eye has been giving me trouble, forcing me from my driving career, for these past three years I have been back in school, where I am expecting to graduate this spring (2013) from Metropolitan State University in Denver with a BA in Urban Land Use Planning with a focus on Urban Sustainability. Just 37 years ago I first started college at Western Michigan, and Metro State is my 3rd university to include Cleveland State too. I still don't know where my degree will lead me, but on the same campus as Metro State is the University of Colorado Denver campus, where I might yet seek a Master's degree in Urban Planning or in Regional Sustainability, which would allow me to teach at the college-level too. youngest son Drew (age 19) live together at home, and Marie has two more sons, Chris, age 20, and Ryan, age 26, who live on their own. Ryan already has three children, which means that I can still be a grandfather too! We enjoy golf (24 handicap), and I still ski the Rockies. We have enjoyed recent travel to Houston and Galveston, Las Vegas & Los Angeles, metro-Detroit, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and New York City, We just took a cruise to the Yucatan in January, and in January of 2012 I attended a conference on urban sustainability in Santiago and Valparaiso, Chile too. We will be back in LA in March and are making plans for a flying and driving vacation in July which might include parts of Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York City too. I would enjoy the chance to catch-up with old friends. I've been away from my substance-abuse problems for many years now, but would enjoy having a drink with old friends.
