Mark's Story
Life
Graduated from Ohio State University in 1967 with a degree in Industrial Engineering.
-First job was with Newport News Shipbilding and Dry Dock Company (Newport News, VA)
-Switched to healthcare in 1972 and worked at Norfolk General Hospital. Started their Management Engineering Dept.(Norfolk, VA)
-Moved to Yale New Haven Hospital in 1977 (New Haven, CT). Started their first Management Engineering Dept.
-Found the time to pick up an MBA.
-Got into information systems when I took responsibility for selecting and implementing a clinical information system at Hospital in 1988.
-Responsible for all computer ...Expand for more
applications at Hospital and for several in multi hospital system.
-Currently the Chief Information Officer at Bridgeport Hospital, one of the three hospitals within Yale New Haven Health System.
-Not very exciting, I guess. I am married (my second) and have a collection of kids from 30 to 15 years old (but no grand kids yet).
-When I was in Virginia I was very active in racing sail boats (still my first love).I had the only two purple 505s in the world.
-I don't do much sailing now and switched to windsurfing because it is easier to put it on top of the car. My friends tell me that I am too old for windsurfing.
