Mark's Story
Life
After moving to California one summer after graduation, I recreated a kind of "Dust Bowl Migration Career Change" in my '66 VW bus. Made it to Chowchilla CA where many "Okies" landed, and promptly broke down. Learned how to rebuild my engine and took any job I could find, including field work (ah, the joys of 12 hour shifts in a cotton gin..).
Got married, had a family (two daughters, one a Dr. and the other a mom) , and worked my way up the ladder. Bought and sold several houses, got divorced, went back to square one, and am now living very comfortably and happily with my true love - my second (and Last) wife.
I now live just 20 miles south of Chowchilla, where it never rains during the summer, and I'm surrounded by vineyards! We love to go moto...Expand for more
rcycle touring on my "funnest" toy yet - a BMW R1150RT - and take it wine tasting all over California. Our annual vacation is a 5 hour trip to "Abfest" - a gathering of relatives and diver friends camping on the ocean about 2 hours north of S.F. where we eat Abalone all weekend, drink, and be merry! :)
I'm looking forward to retirement, and like to keep tabs on the goings on back East. My memories of growing up in Pt. Pleasant are ones I cherish, though my High School "daze" are not worth repeating...Skiing on the Manasquan River (if you fall, don't put your feet down, yuk!), Treasure Island keggers, slaving at the Lobster Shanty, etc.
