Mark's Story
I started moving around the country about 1 1/2 years after highschool. Have moved more times than I can count (60+). I have lived all over eastern & western Pennsylvania, Florida, North Carolina, Texas, even had to stents back in New Jersey. Most recently, summer of '06 I moved to Denver, Colorado for a great job with a relocation company. No longer married, no children, no pets, no plants ~ just me. I found a new hobby, (car) camping and hiking the Rocky Mountains and I bought my first bike (for those of you in Rio Linda, Ca = motorcycle)! What a way to see the country.
After logging 9,000 miles in 6 months of riding I can add another milestone...my first (& hopefully my last) motorcycle accident. The good news is a used my body to protect the bike as best I could. The bad news is I am now a lifetime member of the metal rod implant club. Classic tib/fib spiral fracture aka: boot fracture, very common with skiers. Recovery is going well but the bike will be repaired long before I will be able to walk again.
Update:
I am pretty much fully recovered from my motorcycle accident. I can do limited impact so running is still 'uncomfortable'. On the plus side, I am able to predict weather changes 24 hours in advance. Very reli...Expand for more
able! I sold the motorcycle. And Oh, the 'great' job turned out to be a nightmare! In 2008 I moved to Colorado Springs, working as the accountant for a small mfg company. A couple years later I am supervising the payables function, the systems administrator for 3 software programs, advising on the financials, added purchasing agent to my resume, and moving more into operations, efficiencies and production problem solving.
September of 2009 I remarried to a wonderful woman here in Colorado Springs. We both enjoy the mountains. Winter...no so much but spring & summer is awesome! Most recently I discovered I have 3 degenerative disks in my neck, C5, C6 & C7. I tried the injections and they are effective for a couple weeks at best. I have a traction device I use almost daily and for now is doing the trick. Slowing down my outdoor and physical activities is not on my schedule at this time so it is a daily battle. And part of the aging process. Thank you.
That is a very short version of my life & times since highschool. So much has happened since 1976! Some good, some not so good and some just plain lousy. That's life...He never said it would be easy. He did say you will have troubles. John 16:33 So far He has been correct.
