Mark's Story
Life
To anyone interested in my bio, hmmmm you must surely have something better to do with your time. But here goes. The first part of my life you're probably familiar with. I graduated from West High in 1970. I was in the Band. Then, on to Capital University for my undergraduate degree. I graduated from Cap in 1974. The 1974 - 1975 school year I began teaching sixth grade at Finland Middle School in the Southwestern City School District. I continued at that school for 26 1/2 years at which time a new intermediate school was built and I moved over with my students to the new building, Franklin Woods Intermediate School. I taught at at the new building for 1 1/2 years and retired in the spring of 2002.
After retirement I thought deeply about what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. I had the privilege to be very well acquainted in the Belle Center Amish Community. Many dear friends there. I felt very at home there. I appreciated the people, the church, the beliefs, an...Expand for more
d the lifestyle. So, I basically sold out in Columbus and purchased a small place in the country right in the middle of the Belle Center Amish Community. My Amish friends had been looking for a place for me and they called me with the message "Mark, we think we've found just the place for you." And, it was.
So, I asked to become a part of the community and was baptized into the church on August 3, 2003. Thus, I'm officially Amish. Including beard, black hat, horse and buggy, the works. A lot of changes in my life. Not many people get to live two totally different lives but I feel like that's what I've done. Even speak a different language. I speak Pennsylvania Dutch (German dialect) more than I speak English, anymore.
Anyway, thanks for reading my bio.
It's very difficult to contact me via the internet. I'm only on it when I visit relatives or friends. So, I may not see my e-mail for six months or more. But, give it a try. I'd like to hear from old students and friends.
