Mark's Story
Life
After changing carrers several years ago, I wound up in the information services division of the country's largest catalog speciality food company. Luckily, it's in the wonderful Rogue valley, so I can still live in Grants Pass.
I still find it hard to believe that I ended up doing IT work. Although many who worked with me previously say it is a much better fit than selling insurance.
When I was hired by Harry & David, it was for a seasonal job processing mail orders (I was bored, and between jobs at Christmas time). But that...Expand for more
temp, lead to two years in the Human Resources department, helping to process several thousand new hires, and returning employees. During the slow times, I was loaned to project teams, with the last one being in IT. It was supposed to be for 6 weeks. Ten months later, I was offered a full-time position there.
When not working, I help my elderly mother around her house. But I'm probably better known for riding one of my bicycles around town, while accompanies by our Pomeranian. When it comes to bikes, I say choose style over speed.
