Mark's Story
Life
After high school I worked in Renton for two years then went to Yakima Valley College for two years. In 1963 I joined the Navy. And in September 1963 I married Charla Bruton of Yakima. I was an Electronics Technician and served on the USS Bryce Canyon for three years and then taught at the Navy Electronics A School for three years. We had two children during the years, Charlotte in 1965 and Mikal in 1968. I left the Navy in 1970 and went to work for AT&T in San Francisco. We lived in Petaluma CA. Our third child, Crystal, was born in 1971.
In 1978 I went to work for Boeing and we moved back to Washington. We moved into a new house in Federal Way. During those years we hosted foriegn exchange students from Guatamala, Mexico and Japan. We ha...Expand for more
d some relocations with Boeing. In 1987 we moved to Denver. Then in 1989 we moved back to Seattle. And in 1991 we moved back to Denver. During these years we had the worst experience of our lives - our daughter Charlotte was killed in an automobile accident in April 1989.
In 2000 I retired from Boeing and we moved to Coeur d'Alene ID where our son Mikal lived with his wife and our two grandchildren. We bought ten acres and built a house. After two and a half years of retirement my declining retirement portfolio and Boeing's need for an old-timer sent me back to work in Denver. That is where we are now. We still own the property in Coeur d'Alene and we intend to retire there again someday.
As of March 2010, I am 68 and still working for Boeing.
