Mark's Story

Were we ever that young? (pictured left to right: Dale Hanson, Mike Powers, Bob Connell, Dave Riley and yours truly) Update 6 - Purchased a great home with pool on an acre lot right on the edge of town. We have privacy and beautiful views and it's a short drive to my new shop. Moved my collection here from WI and a couple of other storage spots (GA and CO), and have spent the past year restoring and selling off much of my multiple pieces to collectors. Just pickup up a very nice 1942 Ford GPW Jeep that has been sitting in a aircraft hanger for decades. Am currently restoring a 1947 Willy's CJ2A Jeep and 47 SPEN Trailer combination for my personal collection. I spend my mornings in the clock shop and afternoons working with my vehicle collection. It's a great job! Still hiking, and running when I can, teaching OLLI courses at the local college 2 out of 3 semesters and making new friends here in Prescott. New gradbaby (Mia), kids are all doing well, my mom is healthy at age 84, life is still a great adventure and I am blessed! Update 5 - Graduated from School in August 2015 and decided to sell the place in Wisconsin and make the move to a warmer climate. After much resesrch, we decided that Prescott Arizona fit the bill. Made the move here in September, am renting a furnished home until we decide what type of home and neighborhood we want to live in. I've started my clock and watch restoration and repair business and am pleased to report that business is excellent. As soon as we purchase a home I will be moving my military vehicle collection to AZ, and am already planning to see if I can get some film work in CA ... a short 6 hour trip to the land of movie making. Update 4 - We are making a geographical move for school in May 2013. Heading to the York Time Institute, in York PA for a 24 month course on antique clock and watch repair. Might as well use up some of my veterans benefits :-). Plan on living in Carlisle PA as there is a military post there (Carlisle Barracks) that offers lots of support. Hope to make the reunion this summer. Update 3 - I am now ...Expand for more
retired after 33+ years of Military Service and have returned home to River Falls WI to pursue my hobbies, spend time with my family and to travel. I wish all of my classmates the best. // R// Mark Update 2 - Underwent another surgery on my foot (28 Sep 10) to clean up some shrapnel and some other stuff from a previous surgery. Will be taking it easy for the next couple of weeks and then back into my routine. Have finally started running again, but would have to admit that its been a slow and painful process. Struggle to get thru 3 mile mile runs and feel it after every session. Totally sucks for someone who was running marathons these past few years. Learning all about patience these days. Update 1 - Out of my last cast (finally!!!!!) and doing lots of physical and pool therapy... Among many things, I am working on a WWII Half-Track Documentary with a couple of gents from Sony Pictures .. We plan on airing it on the History and Military Channels when completed. My daughter is getting married in May 2010, in Stillwater MN and I am looking forward to walking her down the aisle. Tom her beau is a fine young man ... my sons are doing well as is my mother Linda .. can't wait to be released from here and get back home! Home is on an wooded acreage in River Falls, WI a very quaint college town approximately 21 miles East of St. Paul, MN. With three grown children (Mark Jr., David and Natalie) in college, grad school and the work force (ages 22, 28 and 30) there is always busy time in the Koloc family. I have several hobbies to include running, carpentry, cooking, wine tasting, travel, classic vehicles, and my Harley time (Road King Classic). When I am home on leave, I spend hobby time working on a very rare WWII 1943 White US Half-Track that I recovered from the African desert in 2006. It would be nice to see any of my classmates so feel free to stop by and visit anytime you're in the neighborhood. Just drop me a line first just to make sure I'm home. There's always a steak in the freezer, a good bottle of vino in the rack and cold beer in the shop! //R// Mark
