Mark's Story
Shortly after graduation I entered the Army and served as an intelligence analyst for my entire enlistment. In my position I was fortunate enough to travel to several places around the world. Upon leaving the Army I went to work at the Charleston Naval Shipyard until just before closure. I was one of the lucky ones to land a job in the Charleston. The most significant part of my time at the Shipyard, was the opportunity to re-connect with an old high school girlfriend, Donna Harrison (‘75). After a brief courtship, I knew I’d found my soulmate and we soon married. We’ve begin together ever since. We have two beautiful daughters, Lauren and Jenna. Both are now married to great guys and Jenna has given us the best gift ever, a granddaughter. Harper is the apple of our eye and has been spoiled rotten by Bumpy and DD. I then became employed at the Naval Weapons Station in Goose Creek as first a legal analyst and later as a legal administrator. Having the chance to again work with active duty military personnel and, hopefully, make their lives easier by providing them guidance and solutions in the legal arena. In 2013, I retired with 38 years of service to our country. Immediately upon my retirement Donna and I moved to Hawaii. She worked and I played. Actually it was a great life experience for both of us. After a year, we found ourselves missing our daughters, so we returned to the Charleston area. Shortly after our return, we moved outside of Summerville and I accepted a position with the Berkeley Count Magistrate. I’ve been there ever since. Donna will retire 1/18 and I will retire (for a second time) in 8/18. We’ve already planned a couple of trips, but, first, we will smother Harper with hugs and kisses and all the love we have.
