Mark's Story

Life After leaving Wayland in 1980, I moved to Boston. In 1984 I began working as a Foreign Exchange Trader for Boston Safe Deposit & Trust Company. In 1985 I was married to my wife Ruth and we had our first child in 1986. Also in 1986, we moved to London and spent 3 years there managing Foreign Exchange operations for the investment firm. Returning back to the US in 1989, my wife Ruth and I purchased our home in Beverly to be near the ocean where we still reside. We have two children; Christopher and Nicole. Chris is in the Marines (currently stateside) and Nicole is in high school. We also reside and spend as much time as we can at our home in Florida, where my wife and I also own investment property including a shelter for disabled veterans. Both Ruth and I are avid boaters both in MA and FL, although work sometimes limits our time. Prior to joining IBM, Mr. Watson was the Managing Director for Aztec Technology Partners, a Boston based global consultancy and IT firm providing trading floor, market data and securities processing solutions to the investment industry. Prior to Joining Aztec, Mr. Watson held the position Vice President of The Boston Company Asset Management and then Senior Vice President of Mellon Bank Asset Management, where he was responsible for strategic development of investment management technology initiatives. Mr. Watson began his career in the investment banking industry in 1984 as a Foreign Exchange Trader for Boston Safe Deposit & Trust Company managing foreign exchange custody services for the firm’s institutional clients. Mr. Watson frequently publishes articles and lectures on topics related to the investment banking/capital markets industry. Mr. Watson lives in Beverly Massachusetts and Tampa, Florida, with his wife Ruth and their two children.
