Mark's Story
Five days after graduating high school, I enlisted in the Air Force. Unfortunately, someone performing the physicals at the Induction Center in Syracuse wasn't paying attention. I never made it out of boot camp because of a hearing problem. In fact, 5 of the 14 of us who went to Lackland AFB from Syracuse were medically discharged, four of the five for hearing related problems.
When I got home, i broke up with my girl friend for cheating on me while I was in boot camp.
Jobs were scarce so I tried much work. After breakin my butt for two weeks for below minimum wage salary, I quit.
Shortly afterward, I embarked on a trip across the country... hitchhiking. It took about a month, with stops in Buffalo, NY... Hazelton, PA, and some college town in Missouri, but I wound up in Berkley CA where I took up with the Jesus movement. I stayed there for about a month or two, then hitched home and tried to find a job.
I worked at Lee Hall at SUNY Oswego from 1972 to 1974 as the laundry person. Clean towels, swimsuits, tennis uniforms and Fencing Jackets were my specialty.

, I've lived and worked in PA (Philly suburbs), CA (LA suburbs) and NC (about 60 miles north of Charlotte). Most of my jobs have been in either food service or in electronics manufacturing.
Met wife #1 at one of my jobs. Married in 1976. Two adopted kids later, the marriage went south of the border. Three years and three reconcilliation attempts later, I found myself divorced after nearly 18 years of marriage.
I met my current wife during a penpal relationship. We wrote each other for nearly five years before I married her in the Philippines at the end of 1996. We have two beautiful little girls, ages 6 and 8 years old.
Interests now are writing (of course), clowning around (I'm not kidding) and occasional (oil) painting.
I'm currently pursuing an A.A.S. degree in Business Administration, alternating between part-time and full time student status. Hopefully, I'll be a degree holder at the end of the Fall 2009 semester. My mrs. just started her pursuit of the same degree this fall, so now I'm tutoring my two girls and my wife (hey! maybe I should start charging a fee!?)
