Mark's Story
My family and I moved to Arizona within months after high school graduation and I went to college at Northern Arizona University. After graduation in '79 I worked in the restaurant business for 5 years. Then I joined the Air Force and became an officer in 1984. My military career took me all over the US from the east coast to the west and several assignments in the southern states. I also enjoyed overseas assignments in Korea, Panama, Saudi Arabia, Hawaii, Germany and Okinawa. I met my current wife in Hawaii. Within the next few years I'll be retiring from the Air Force and we'll settle down in Hawaii. Where I hope to pursue my life-long hobbie (though I didn't have this interest in high school) and that is pottery. I first learned this amazing craft and art form one summer in college and have stayed with it in one way or another through the years of transfers and new assignments around the world. Fortunately, Hawaii has a flourishing art community that includes an active pottery community. I can't wait!
