Marlene's Story
It's been a long time since graduation. I can't believe how old I am, just never thought it would happen!! I moved to San Francisco, CA in 1977. My sister lived there. I stayed for about 22 years. For many years I worked (to pay the very high rent!), and had fun. I've done dog grooming, waitressing, owned a cleaning business and a child care business. I met my husband (of 30yrs) and had 2 children. Then I decided to go to college. I got a nursing degree and went to work to pay off the loans! We decided to move back to Binghamton to help take care of my aging parents, who have both now passed. I miss SF, but I have never regretted our decision. Binghamton's not so bad like everyone says. It's got beautiful hills and valleys, 2 rivers running through, parking, and so many ways to 'drive throug...Expand for more
h' with banks, phones, food,...we didn't have that in the crowded, city of SF. I have been back since 2000, I live in Chenango Bridge and work at General Hospital in the ICU at night.
When I look through the yearbook, I remember almost everyone. I hung out with some of you at different times. I remember spending a lot of time on the west side. I also had good friends who did not go to BCHS, and boyfriends who had already graduated, and I wasn't as involved in extracurricular activities. I don't have many pictures in the yearbook. Looking back I wish I had, it looks like fun, and it was healthier than some of the things I was doing! So I may be more excited to see someone than they would me, but I don't remember disliking anyone, and what time I did spend with my classmates were good times.
