Marlene's Story
Aloha, River Ridge Class of 1996!
I am currently living in College Station, Texas, working at Texas A&M University. This is my fifth school in eight years since graduating from Washington State University with a bachelor's degree in journalism and a minor in sport management in 2000. For those of you who remember me from high school, I was always the girl who wore baseball caps and basketball jerseys to school and loved sports. The same can be said today as I work in athletics at my university and work with our women's basketball and men's tennis programs. Prior to A&M, I interned at the University of Connecticut (2000-01), got my first full-time job at UNLV (2002-03), moved up to a better positon at Kasas State (2003-06) and I'm finally at my last school at Texas A&M (2006-Present). The one thing I love most about my job is the travel. I've been to most every state in the U.S. (except f...Expand for more
or Alaska, Montana, Maine and the Dakotas), the Bahamas, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Switzerland, France and Monaco with my hoops teams. Last year, my favorite trip was to Washington, D.C., where we toured all of the landmarks in the nation's capital and met with several politicians and President Bush himself. We've had a lot of success as a program making it all the way to the NCAA Elite Eight before losing by eight points to the Tennessee Lady Vols. We have several games on ESPN2 and Fox Sports this year as a preseason top 10 team, so check me out on the sidelines. I usually sit in the first seat on the scorer's table next to my team bench. I am really bummed out that we were not able to organize a 10-year reunion, I hope to do so in the future. Hope everyone is doing well and please drop me a line or you can always google my name and find my direct e-mail and cell phone number. Take care!
