Marlene's Story
Life
My life got pretty interesting since 2010, with family health issues, too many teenagers in the house and a stressful job, I guess it's bound to catch up with a person. Left my long term position as an RN at a local clinic and have been enjoying some time off, I'm sure I'll be back to work soon, but I haven't had this kind of break in >18 years! Still haven't finished that BSN, but haven't forgotten it either.
I had a surprisingly good time at the reunions in1996, 2006 and 2011. I think the boys get cuter all the time! I miss you Brad G and wish I would have given you that kiss at the 2006 class reunion!!!
Travels: I enjoyed a vaction in Greece for a month w/o man or kids (can you believe it!) in June 2003. Spent 9 days with my friend and 3 weeks traveling solo on the islands. It was a moving experience for me and I can't wait to go back!
I made it to The Phillipines with my Mom in May 2008! What an adventure that was. A month of meeting relatives, seeing farms and kissing babies. Mom promises me next trip will be 1/2 the at resorts, but we'll see. She really digs her family..lol
Disneyland 1992! Awesome.
Mexico in 1993 for a wedding. Relaxing.
Still haven't made it to Hawaii, however the islands aren't moving.
Many trips to Las Vegas but one of the best was spring break 2005 with the (former) husband, kids and my Mom (who got to babysit). It was such a great trip. There is something magically about watching Brintney Spears, Tim McGraw and Madonna impersonators with your daughter. It's bonding on a different level. Also took a ten day road trip with my daughter when she was 16 and difficult, but it was a great trip. We saw a different side of each other. I'm glad I had those memories to think about when she was terrorizing me in those teenage years. So glad that's over!
Currently 6/11/15: I have 3 grown children. Gavin, 24, married April just a few weeks ago and made me a grandma of the sweetest little grand son, Dominik. Conner, 21,and Makayla, 21, are still living at home but they are so independent it's not too bad. I don't have to mommy them anymore but t...Expand for more
hey like to "look after" me. I'd probably be lonely living alone anyway. I guess it's fair for some of the things I did to my Mom, which were some naughty behaviors...Mom says it makes her very happy I had a daughter that had difficult teen years too!
School
Who was my biggest crush? Hummm...wouldn't you like to know!
I suppose now I can admit that I actually liked square dancing in elementary school....especially dancing with MB....lol..
If I could do it all over again, I would have actually tried to do the school work and I would have liked to have dated more. I wished I could have gotten over that inability to wake up in the morning as a teenager...I lost so many credits due to that shortcomming....humm..I still don't like to wake up in the morning..and my daughter is just like me..which is scary.
Flashback: So if you pour the little bottle of liquor into a can of pop, it's not really drinking? or it's not really an open container? I can't remember?*to JI
I have a feeling that the EWAA is alive and well..which is cute but unnerving.
College
I can't believe it's finally over. All the drama I missed on TV,I got in nursing school. May we keep in touch. Memories of: always contemplating how to avoid failing out, who's failing out, where we will celebrate after the next test, margharita's and mecican food. Lisa W and Vonda gone too soon, RIP. Tim, John, Joel, Erika, Rochelle, Tracy and Tracie: YES, somewhere in the world it is past noon, so it's really not too early (the lies I learned!). Carmen, Misty, Trisha and all the other girls: the world should be warned--were out and were licensed!!!!
To my best nursing buddies: Erika and Brooke...I sing this to you " WE SHALL, WE SHALL...ROCK YOU!" And no Brooke, I don't think it would really help that much if we "really" practice the catheter procedure on each other...so don't even ask again.
Military
This is the real reason I wish I would have done well in high school...so I could have joined the Navy like I always dreamed!!! Hello, a male to female ratio of like 100 to 1....YEAH! That's what I'm talking about. LMAO M
