Marriah's Story
Writing this here probably isn't necessary because most people can find me through the web by doing a simple Google search. However, for anyone who is looking at my profile on Classmates.com, it is worth noting a couple important things.
First, my life since 1994 has been a radical invention: academia (Harvard, City University of New York), Politics (Kerry in 04, Obama in 08), social entrepreneurship, and family (married with one daughter and a son due in October 2008) dominate my life. I spent the past 16 years in the classroom turning myself into the type of intellectual who can go anywhere and talk to anyone about any subject. Basically, completely opposite from the kind of person I was in 1994 who spent all his time studying. Now, I don't have to spend any time studying because I have memorized 90% of what I read and wrote over the past 16 years. Second, I live in Boston for the next 4 years at least while my wife does her residency at Brigham and Women's Hospital, hopefully on the way to becoming a professor at Harvard medical school. I spent 9 years in New York right after college, first to be a journalist (like I was in high school), then to be an academic. In the past year alone my academic output (in the form of videos on YouTube) has been substantial, especially as I have appeared frequently on television to discuss politics. Now, I act as a bridge, or synergist: academic research (Ph.D. expected in 09 or 10), family, media (PBS and local cable), and consulting for non-profits and social businesses.
