Marsha's Story

I married the weekend (12 Jun 1976) after school was out to my first husband, John. I met him through the Sizemore's. We had one son between us. We divorced in April 1981. After being single again with a child, I told myself that I would marry someone older if I ever got married again. I worked for Plan Services (at the time was located on Dale Mabry) and a friend that I worked with Kathy Zuhn asked me to go out with her on a Friday night to a place outside the Dale Mabry gate of MacDill AFB (where they did the country line dancing). So I did, but I didn't know that she had someone that she wanted me to meet. So once I got there, she introduced me to my second husband, Jimmy who was in the Air Force and stationed at MacDill. We tried one dance and then we sat and talked for four hours. After that, we started dating the end of April 1982 As you can see, it took me a year to start dating again. But Jimmy and I got married on 8 June 1982 and we have been together ever since. In fact we just celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Which I asked Jimmy to marry me again and we actually got remarried at our home church (Shirley Hills Baptist Church, Warner Robins, Georgia) on 8 June 2007. It was great. I had my Mom there and we had several family and friends to celebrate with us. Jimmy retired from the Air Force in July 1983 and in August 1983 we moved to Athens, Georgia closer to Jimmy's parents. He had been in the military and away from his parents, I told him we needed to spend some time with th...Expand for more
em. Jimmy's father passed away in September 1990 and then his step-father passed away August 1991 and so his mother came to live with us. She passed away in October 2000. Jimmy and I have decided that our Lord has blessed us with being caregivers of our parents. I lost my Dad in November 2004 (a day before his 82nd birthday) in Tampa and then my Mom had to have an operation on 15 December 2004, so I took leave from work (I work for Robins Air Force Base, Warner Robins, Georgia) to stay with her. Once she was released from the doctor, I brought her to Georgia to live with my husband and me which was January 2005. She will be 85 years old this year (2008). My son, Scott lives in Ft Valley, Georgia and he has three daughters ages 1, 3, and 10. So yes, I am a grandmother. I lost my son, Scott on 28 April 2008. It was a very sad day for me. He was cremented and his father took his remains back to Florida. We had a Memorial Service for him in Georgia on 1 May 2008 and another one on 5 May 2008 in Florida. I am still having a hard time with the lose of my son. It is getting where I can't even sleep all night long. Please pray for his little girls and family. On 21 April 2014, I lost my Mom and we buried her in Florida next to my Dad in Brandon, Florida. In June 2016, Jimmy and I moved back to Florida in the Winter Haven area close to my brother and on 12 August 2016, I lost Jimmy. Took him back to Georgia to bury him on 19 August 2016 in Andersonville National Cemetery, Andersonville, Georgia..
