Marsha's Story
Life
I was born in Chicago but my dad joined the USAF three months later and that was the first of many moves. Here's where we lived:
1957 - 1960 Gulfport/Biloxi, MS
1960 - 1962 Injurlik, Turkey
1962 - 1966 Hampton, VA
1966 - 1968 Victorville, CA
1968 - 1972 RAF Bentwaters/Woodbridge, England
1972 - 1974 South Hadley, MA
1974 - 1975 Bellevue, NE
After the 1974 Rose Bowl Parade trip with the South Hadley, MA High School band, we moved to Bellevue HS in Bellevue, NE. I attended the University of Nebraska (BA English/Political Science) and the Graduate School at Tulane (MA Latin American Studies) and traveled more until I alighted in Houston, TX.
I started my real career at Lanier Worldwide as a customer support analyst. I spent 12 years installing/configuring/training customers on proprietary word processors, PCs, and LANS. When I hit the glass ceiling, I moved into technical writing. Currently, I'm a technical writer working contract mostly in the oil and gas industry.
My life revolves around my miniature Poodle, Gabriel, our rescue toy Poodle, Manny, and my house, Bella. My hobbies include gardening (while playing with Gabe), sweepstaking, and working as precinct chair for democratic precinct 64...Expand for more
4. (I've created a Web site just for our neighborhood - simple but effective, I think.) Lately, I've gotten into genealogy, especially how it relates to DNA.
Update: My best friend, Robert Veazey, and I were married on 10/13/2007. The Poodles were in attendance since they were the reason we met in the first place. We went on a cruise for our honeymoon and loved it (Celebrity Cruises). We're having fun arranging and fixing up the house. Robert works for Landmark Graphics (Halliburton) and I am a contractor at Shell UO (although I hope to become a permanent employee soon).
Life is good !
Another update: After a year of unemployment (it is, too, a Depression!) I got the best job as a technical writer for KARL STORZ Integrated solutions. (BTW, we're looking for a Director of Engineering to work here in Houston / Sugar Land - let me know if you're interested!) My sweepstaking hobby is really taking off as I've had a ton of wins lately including a $33,000 lot in Nicaragua. Now I just need to win the money to build on it! My genealogy hobby is also proving to be a lot of fun.
Life is still good!
Life changes. My dear Robert passed away from esophageal cancer November 15, 2014. I miss him very much.
