Marshall's Story
Marshall Isler is a Real Estate Broker and Consultant specializing in unique public-private real estate transactions. Over the past thirty years he has been developer, contractor, and consultant to municipalities, non-profits, and other private entities specializing in redevelopment in economically challenged communities. He has also worked with financial institutions in workouts for troubled property. His experience includes a wide variety of affordable housing, commercial, and mixed-use projects, both new construction and adaptive use of historic structures throughout the state on North Carolina. Over the recent years he has been financial consultant to the housing authorities in Durham, Wilmington, Winston Salem, High Point, Charlotte, Danville, VA, and Columbia SC, on HOPE VI Mixed Financed and Mixed Income Projects involving the development of over 2500 units.
In Fayetteville, he authored the Murchison Road Real Estate Master Development Plan, which led to the development of Bronco Square shopping center, Fayetteville Business Incubator, and the University Place apartments for students at Fayetteville State University. ve use conversion of a 50,000 S.F. department store. These projects totaling over $23 Million of investment, have change the face of downtown Fayetteville. He is presently consultant to the city of Fayetteville for the redevelopment the Murchison Road Corridor, to Fayetteville State University for acquisition and development of a 35 area extension to the campus, several HOPE VI projects and to a variety of private developers and investors. In addition, as a volunteer in his church, he leads the development of their 100 acre church campus.
In recognition of his service to the Fayetteville community, he has received the City Medallion from the Mayor, the annual Leadership Award from the Fayetteville Business and Professional League; the John T. Gibson Business and Economic Award from the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity; and the annual Professional Service Award from the Cumberland Regional Improvement Corporation.
Marshall Isler holds engineering degrees from Howard and George Washington Universities in Washington DC and is a graduate of the Program for Management Development at the Harvard Business School. He has also been a Congressional Fellow, a HUD Community Builder Fellow, and is a retired navy Commander. He is a licensed Real Estate Broker in the state of North Carolina. He is married to the former Verna Harmon Bradford, and they share three adult children and three granddaughters.
