Marshall's Story
Life
I've been with Newsday's sports department for over 26 years. I write sports, obituaries and news features in addition to compiling statistics and sports tv/radio listings. I was married to Sherry on August 2, 2003.
School
I was involved in more sports than anyone who every attended Glenn. I wrote weekly for The Long Islander and covered all sports as well as keeping stats for most. College
I attended Averett for less than two years, from September 1977 through January 1979. I wrote for the Danville Register and Weekender, covering Averett sports. I was a member of a fraternity, wrote for the Chanticleer, and dressed up as the Averett Cougar (my picture appeared in the Danville Register with the cheerleaders). Although I never graduated and probably didn't take my studies as seriously as I should have, my Averett experience was definitely a memorable one in my life.
