Martha's Story
2009. Time to begin again. Life is finally going in the right direction. Funny how that happens when you get divorced.
My boys are both grown and doing their thing. My little girl is, like all young ones, growing up WAY TOO FAST! All a part of life.
I now live in southern Mo. I'm in a smaller town and enjoy it. Close enough to Springfield, yet far enough away.
2013 Life once again gave me a giant change. In 2012 I was married for the second time. This time I'm older and wiser, and finally found my life partner.
I have moved back closer to St Louis. Which as it turns out might just be my life saver. During a check up with my regular doctor, they now know why I have never been very active. My entire life I have had a hole in my heart, which because it was never found has led to some very serious complications. But, I am extremely blessed to have a world renowned doctor in the field to treat me.
2015 What an eventful two years. Not only have I had to deal with my own health issues, which have been a huge hurdle. It has at times been very painful managing the pain caused by life sustaining drugs I must take in order to continue living. Living with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension has been life ...Expand for more
altering. The price of the drugs is staggering, because it is rare, 1:1,000,000.
Then, on 11-10-2014 my middle child (youngest son), was hit by a freight train while walking home from a bar just after midnight in Capo Beach. He lost his right leg, just above his knee. Jump ahead to 9-16-2015 my son finally received his long awaited prosthetic. So he is now on his way to regaining his independence. Our family not only rejoices this but are also joyously awaiting the arrival of my daughters child. Can't believe I am going to be a grandma at the end of February beginning of March.
7-2020 What an eventful year our world is experiencing. With my compromised health I rarely go out among the public. I am fortunate to live in a semi rural town in the middle of the US. We have a nice big yard that I can go out and get fresh air. I have a great family that attends to my needs. My health is stable for now, for that I am truely grateful. The positive out of having a rare disease, are the amazing people I have met along my journey. Just waiting for the world to be safe enough to be able to visit with some of my dearest friends. Capo Alumni stay safe, stay wise, wear a mask, we're not getting any younger!
