Martha's Story
Yes this is Gayle Norman, teased by most in school and friended by a few. But it was my lot and I have dealt with it mostly <smiles>. Well, I just found out in the big world that I am not the oddest duck on the planet <smiles>.
Currently on furlough from the IRS where I am on production as a tax examiner. This means I clutch a mighty RED erasible pen and inspect tax documents for absent or misplaced figures and other info, as well as coding it for proper processing. I enjoy my job though I know it would drive me nuts to do it year round so I am grateful to be seasonal. I temp off season when possible other than that I play World of Warcraft an online computer game and I have played it since 2004. I enjoy it and it is about my only interaction with the world outside of the clerks at the market. My kids and I manage life together at this time and have since we had to ask my now ex husband to leave in 2000. We have 3 dogs and currently 2 cats, whom I tend to care for most. I just planted a peach tree in our backyard this spring and got a tatoo of a frog on my right forearm yesterday.
My folks are still alive, fact is my mother still lives in the same house I lived in with her behind Lincoln School. She has the same phone number that she has had since my parents moved to Manteca when I was an infant. Funny none of those looking for me for reunions manages to locate ...Expand for more
me through her, but oh well, you all got to miss me <smiles>.
I was in contact with Greg Morales for some time after high school but lost touch with him by his choice when he moved to Seattle WA. I miss him so if any of you make contact with him you can poke him for me.
I recall being an outcast in K-12 though most of it was my own fault. I had many personal issues that made it hard to befriend me though treasures like Mary Jayne Auten and a few others manage to see past the problems. I hold no grudges though it was tough being the object of massive teasing. People like Buddy Michaels and Terry Munoz always treated me with respect when our paths crossed. I loved being Miss Goff's pet and Mrs Mulvihill's little angel. Favorite year was the last one. I had a blast hanging out with the Thespians (Thesbians as most liked to tease). I think it was that year that has helped me cope with the crap that has tried to hinder my life. I miss the old gang, though I have stayed in touch with Mother (Mrs. Mulvihill) through most of the years. That year saw me through hell at home and heaven at school. But I survived and live now with some pretty amazing children I am proud to call mine.
Well make contact if you like. I never did bite even though I know I didn't smell very good at times.
Be good to yourselves. And remember we all see a different shade of green.
