Martha's Story

Hi everyone! My goodness where does 20 years go? I don't know about you guys but I don't feel 37. It's probably because I don't act 37... So here's my life in a nutshell...After high school I went to NMSU & worked at a local hometown bank. I quit that bank after 5 years and decided to go to school. I started working at another bank and left school & have been at that financial institution for 13 years now. I just now realized that I had set a pattern!!! About 10 years ago I started working for the brokerage subsidiary of our company & worked as an assistant to a broker for 2 years. After he left the company I stepped up to the plate & became a broker myself. So, that's what I've been doing workwise for the last 8 years. I met the guy I'm with 7 years ago and we just haven't gotten married but want to and we want to have kiddos but haven't yet. People ask me all of the time why we aren't married and I don't have a really good reason as to why except that we've been lazy! But, we're really happy together. We both have the bug to start having kids & know we want to get married very soon. I still live in Las Cruces. I think I'm one of the very few that stayed in town. New residents to the city ironically call people who are from Cruces originally "native". No...Expand for more
pow wows or peace pipe smoking at my home thank you very much. Personally, it doesn't matter to me what I'm called as long as we keep our charm (which is what usually draws people her anyway) and preserve the nice parts of Las Cruces. Now about why I stayed in Las Cruces. It's funny because I just couldn't wait to blow this popsicle stand and get out of here. I seriously could not even get moved out of the county line. I stayed with my sister in New Jersey many years ago and came home after 2 months. It's like Cruces has a Martha magnet and it just kept pulling me back no matter how hard I wanted to leave. It was about 10 years ago that I finally embraced this town & everything it is & isn't. So, it's not a thriving metropolis but it has so much character. I love being able to go to local restaurants & businesses and know most of the people there and if I don't they treat me like they've known me for years. Now, I just love this little town. When I was younger I never appreciated the people here but that's what makes this town so special. I'd have a hard time leaving after all this time. I'm happy right where I am. I feel so blessed to love where I live & work & to love the man I'm with. Now just give me a couple of kiddos & that'll be way over the top!
