Kenneth Cassel and I married in August 1968, after I graduated from Dorman.He had enlisted in the Marine Corp earlier that year.After 2 1/2 weeks,Kenneth was sent to Camp Pendleton,then to Vietnam.I had just entered nurses' training at USC-S. While engaged in battle 10-31-68,the love of my life was killed.It took 3 days for the news to be delivered to Roebuck,SC.Looking back, I recall how restless I was during those 3 days.Although I had not yet received the devastating news,my intuition made me extremely restless and fearful.I went to my parents' home for the weekend to bake cookies to send to Vietnam;hoping that staying busy would calm my uneasiness.On Sunday evening the doorbell rang and my world, as I had known it, turned upside down.
