Martin's Story
After graduating from HC in 1968, I joined the Navy and served for 4 years in the Submarine Service, on the SSBN-602 USS Abraham Lincoln. After the Navy, I attended San Antonio College for 2 years, then went to Southwest Texas State Univ. for 2 years, where I graduated with a Degree in Natural Resources & Environmental Studies, returned to SWT after graduation for one year working on a Masters in Agriculture. I worked 32 years for the USDA Soil Conservation Service, which later changed its name to the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. onte Vista, Norwood, and Delta, Colorado; Mexico City, Mexico; Alexandria, Louisiana; Bismarck, North Dakota; and Bozeman, Montana, and Washington DC before I retired in 2004. After I retired I have worked for Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), Texas Department of Agriculture (Organic Certification Coordinator), 911 Emergency Dispatch in both Colorado & Texas, and U.S. Forest Service (Contract Wildfire Dispatcher). I have now moved to Sun City Grand (55+ Active Adult Community) in Surprise, AZ. I have 2 sons (one in Washington D.C., and the other in Marietta, GA), and a Step Daughter in Kentucky, 5 grandchildren.
