Marty's Story
Life
I have three daughters, Kyra 24 who graduated from the University of Denver and has started her master's degree in international studies at the University of Denver, Katie my step-daughter who works for Douglas County School District in the after-school and pre-school programs and she just turned 23, and Marla who is 22. Marla is a flight attendant for Lynx airlines. My wife Melinda works Westwood College. She is also working on her doctorate degree in on-line learning. I am finishing my twenty-third year of teaching social studies and coaching football. I currently work at ThunderRidge High School in Highlands Ranch, CO. ThunderRidge is in the Douglas County School District. I live in Parker, CO which is just east of Highlands Ranch. I have been at ThunderRidge High School for the last eight years. We have had a very successful 4A football team over those seven years by winning state championships in three of the seven years. We just won the State Championship three falls ago making it a back-to-back championship. This fall we move up to 5A so we will play teams like Cherry Creek and Mullen. I also have a former player (Jesse Nading) now playing in the N...Expand for more
FL for the Houston Texans. (By the way; John Benton a former Durango High and CSU football player is the offensive line coach for the Houston Texans. I also coached him when I started coaching football in Durango.) I also have one former players playing for CU, four players playing for CSU, one at Louisville, and one at Utah State. Melinda and I love to travel, five summers ago we spent three weeks in Greece and Turkey. Three years ago we visited Hawaii. Last summer I traveled with my mother and sister to Ireland and Melinda and I went on vacation to Cancun. I am still a big Denver Bronco fan and I was at both playoff games four years ago. We will be there next fall as well. My dad is retired down in Phoenix and my mom lives in Tucson. I get to see them a couple of times per year. My brother Matt works and lives with his family in Farmington, NM and my brother Mark has retired from the Navy after twenty-six years he lives in New Hampshire. My sister Melody still lives in Durango and she is married to Jerry Warren and they have two daughters. I get down to Durango a couple of times per year. I hope to be in Bayfield and Durango during the Fourth of July weekend.
