Marva's Story
After graduating from Torrington High School in 1985, I attended EWC for 2 years. I traveled to Boston, MA and was a Nanny from 87-89 and then moved to Laramie, WY where I attended the University of WY for two years. I went to Davenport, IA where I recieved my BA in Elementary Education with an Early Childhood Endorsement. After student teaching I moved to Portales, NM where I obtained my MA in Special Education. I taught at an Elementary school for one year and then taught at Clovis High School for two years. I moved to Ellsworth, WI and got a teaching job in Cottage Grove, MN where I was for 6 years as a Resource Room teacher. ...Expand for more
I had a case load of 33 at the most and worked with student who had learning disabilities, behavior disorders, AD/HD, and Autism. Two years ago in June I moved my family to Pueblo West, CO. I am currently teaching in an Elementary school. My classroom is called the All Star Room and I work with students who are behaviorally and emotionally unable to function independently within the "regular" classroom. I have a beautiful 16 year old daughter. I recently obtained my second Masters with a specialization in autism. I work for District 3 at Venetucci Elementary with students with autism. I also have my own nonprofit, STARS Spectrum.
