Mary's Story
Hi there, Many of you knew me as Kathie Benkendorfer, aka Benkie. I got married after 1 semester at Eastfield. That ended shortly after it began. I got married in May and divorced in September. In the meantime, we had moved to Houston, which, was where I met my 2nd husband. We were married for 12 years. The whole time spent, regretfully, in Houston. After I ended that one (11/1983), I moved back to Mesquite with my parents. I stayed there till they moved to Ft. Worth, the following, April when I moved to Garland. I have resided in Garland ever since that time. I have currently been happily married for 14.5 years. I am currently unemployed, but, when I was employed, I worked as ...Expand for more
a staff accountant with several companies. I am not sure that I will ever hold such a position again. You see, in May of 2000, I suffered two very major strokes. It has taken 9 long years to get to the point where I feel that I am able to return to work, but I am there. And wouldn't you know it? We are in the middle of a recession with a down job market! Go figure! During my time off, I enrolled in an online university and earned my Masters degree in Healthcare Administration. Now, the problem with that is, I have no previous healthcare experience and, consequently, no job. So, long story short, I wasted my time and money. So that's where I am in my life now.
