Mary Ann's Story
I graduated early because I wanted out of school. Wasn't my thing. I married Gary Fisher in March of 1979. I worked at KCMO Police Dept in Report Control from 1979 to 1983. Gary and I divorced in 1983. We did not have any children. I resigned from the police department in June of 1983. I was a wild child from 1983 until 1985 or so. Wasn't much I didn't do. I drove a 1982 Pink Cadillac which the girlfriends and I put to good use. We went to the Ozarks and Hawaii! I had several jobs but nothing I really stayed at for long. I was a cocktail waitress at the old General's Inn at 40 Hwy & Noland for a little while. That's where I met my current husband, Keith. Keith and I were married in April of 1987. In June of 1987 I started working as a receptionist for RSI, a litigation ...Expand for more
support company in downtown KC. I'm still there today as the Human Resource Manager. In May of 1991 Keith and I began working as foster parents for the Jackson County Division of Family Services. We had just finished the classes when we got a call one Friday afternoon asking if we would like to have two baby boys. One was 2.5 yrs and the other 8 months. We said yes and I called my Mom quickly! One hour later we were parents. The boys infant brother later joined us. After 5 years and many heart wrenching moments were were able to adopt them. They've been with us every since and are now 19, 17 and 15. Keith is retired from Armco Steel and basically runs the homefront and baitshop that we own and I drive 100 miles a day to work. It's a good life and I am very thankful.
