Mary Monroe:

CLASS OF 1968
Clyde, NY

Mary's Story

I was that girl who was always talking... At least, that is what I am told. Seriously, I loved growing up in Clyde with Mary's Fashion Shop and Messinger's Hardware store. Ice cream soda's after school at V and J on the corner. Friday night football and Summer Record Hops at Sodus Point by bus for $.25 a ride from the Park downtown and back? I think the movie theatre was $.25 too! Walk home after a school event and never be worried. I knew who lived in just about every house I walked by. My children should have been so lucky. I was fortunate to go to work for Rochester Telephone ...Expand for more
in Rochester, NY and go from there to New York Telephone, then AT&T, then Lucent Technologies, from which I retired. I found them to always be companies ahead of their time in that, if you worked hard and accomplished the goals set for you, you were given training and opportunities to go anywhere you wanted, regardless of sex, color, religion or political party. My husband and I have been married over 30 years now and have raised 5 children, who we love and are extremely proud of. Not only for what they have accomplished, but most importantly; that they are nice people. Life is good
