Mary's Story
Life Happened!!!
After HS graduation, I continued to work for the Kansas City Star Newspaper while attending Rockhurst College. I graduated in 1982 from Rockhurst with a Bachelors in Industrial Relations. I worked several years after that for BG Maintenance in Human Resources. During my stint with BG I married Michael Robins, and had a son M.C. (short for Michael Carson Robins ). We were married for 26 years. Divorced 2011.
I went on to work as a Regional Human Resources Manager for the cable industry, then to a Regional Director and then to a Corporate Director all still in the Cable Industry. I have not lived in K.C. for 20 years. I've lived in Tampa Florida, Lancaster California, Sheffield Ohio, and Windsor, Colorado. I currently reside in Washington, North Carolina. I am currently 6 hours away from completing my Executive MBA (won't be finishing that). Completed my Masters of Science in Project Leadership 2007 at Regis University.
I have visited 46 of the states and I am a cruise girl. Just went on my 21st cruise in April 2016...Expand for more
. I am fortunate enough...blessed enough to still have my mother and all of my siblings. We have good children and some of my sisters and brothers have good grandchildren. My son turns 29 tomorrow (May 15, 2016). He says he won't marry until he is 30 so....I have no grandchildren. Yet...! He just moved back to Kansas City (took his girlfriend with him)and loves it.
I just married for the second time (11/26/16). I married Ledrue Bolder (native Kansas Citian). We are living in Washington, North Carolina in our new home. I am currently determining what my next career will be after 30+ years in Human Resources. I have recently completed the "Career Development Facilitator" course and plan to become Globally certified. This will enable me to be a Counselor/Advisor. I currently supervise 5 Career Advisors. This is not it for me. I think I am going to go solo in training and development as well as Career Advising. Life is great!!! Oh...I forgot. My husband gave me a Spyder for a wedding gift. Yes...I at my age drive a motorcycle!
