Mary's Story
Life
I've lived on the Island of Hawaii since 1979, after attending Oregon State University. Until 2005 I worked with my husband as office nurse and manager in his Pediatric practice. I left to pursue my dream of becoming a professional artist.
The online gallery I was represented by, Fuji Film Hawaii, closed in September of 08. My work is currently found on hawaiiartonline.com. Take a peak if you like. There is also a sampling of paintings on my Face Book page and have work displayed in 2 physician's offices and a Real estate firm.
I've been painting in oils and am also a potter. I do commission paintings of any subject. I've recently spent many hours working on portraiture. I feel so blessed to be able to follow my heart, and do what I've always dreamt of doing. Life is so GOOD!
My husband Bob and I share his 3 children. All are grown with lives of their own.Our oldest son and his wife gave us a beautiful grand daughter 2/7/08. Her name is Cate she is 5 now and loves to sing, dance and play Princess. Her brother Benton (8) is into trail riding on his bike, Star Wars Lego and is i...Expand for more
n his 4th season of Ice Hockey. He frequently plays during halftime during Nashville's Pro team "The Predators" games.
Bob and I own a 4 1/2 acre Lychee orchard in South Kona, which I manage for the three month fruit season from June thru August. I never get tired of sitting in a tree eating fresh fruit.
Bob and I love to travel and have spent time mountaineering in Washington, Colorado, Nepal, Italy and France. Planning a trip next to the U.K. to visit friends.
Bob learned to Ski in 2010, with the hope of skiing with Benton for at least one season. We have made two trips to Utah this year. Next Season I'm learning to Snowboard since Benton will likely take that route next year also. We are having a blast.
Bob has resumed his position as Medical Director of the Ironman World Championships here in Kona. Neither of us have plans to compete in that race again, but we are doing Olympic distance Triathlons and Swimming Competitions.
If you're going to be on the Big Island anytime, look us up in the phone book under Robert and Mary Laird. We are excellent tour guides.
Aloha y'all
