Mary Jane Kulas:  

I've been baking cakes, pies, and pastries for as long as I can remember, but the art of cake decorating has been my passion since about the age of 15. My Dad bought a novice cake decorating set for me, and I started in with baking and decorating a surprise birthday cake for my sister. All said and done, the cake went down in family history as the "mess" that started a career! After high school, I kept up my passion of sugar art by training as a baker's apprentice at the White Fence Farm restaurant in Denver (formerly Wilson's Restaurant.) From there, I worked various odd jobs (some of which were in the baking industry in Denver.) Finally, after a few years of looking intently for a more promising position and not finding anything in the Denver area, I decided to move to Las Vegas, and try my "luck" at working in an upscale bakery there. I worked for several years in Vegas, then moved to Texas, where I thought I might "strike it rich" someday. Well, that "someday" came just a couple of years ago when we received a phone call from a special client! The "special client" turned out to be Miss Jenna Bush, daughter of former President George W.
