Mary's Story

Hi! When I was in school, highschool that is, my parents believed I would do all the things my older sisters tried. Hence, I was allowed to do nothing, go nowhere, unless in a crowd or in connection with a Service Club. The real reason for Marklinians! It was the only way I could go to the dances! I was not allowed to have boyfriends, sorry David and Bud, but I could have friends who hung around boys. I was not allowed to get my license even though I scored higher than ALL my siblings on the tests, and was considered a good driver even then... Still no tickets or accidents by the way, (**me knocking on wood**). When I graduated, mom and dad told me they were moving the following week to Glendale! Nice graduation present... So, Shirley and I went into West L.A. and got jobs at TransAmerica! That didn't last long, partly because I didn't have a license, and partly because I couldn't stand the idea of STILL answering to a bell being rung to announce it was break time, lunch time, time to go home.... But it was interesting work, I must say. Just the wrong environment. Then I went to work at Security Pacific Bank, with my dad in L.A. two blocks from Midnight Mission... That was so much fun, I can't begin to tell you how cool it was. The bank built that new tower in Glendale (why my folks moved there) and we transferred. Good job, good money, I worked in Commercial Services with the multi-million dollar accounts, and great people. Except for one of the bosses. He was a major pervert and sexual harrassment specialist. Meaning he knew all the tricks. Had to leave that job after three years, (before we could file those wonderful lawsuits they have now!) hung out in South Pasadena for almost a year with my main man, Bob Caldwell (now in Miami), lost all of our personal possessions in a huge robbery, and when we split, I went to Reno to visit one of my sisters (where I dissappeared every summer) for a couple weeks. I never returned to L.A. except for the 10 year reunion! Well, and once we took the kids to DisneyLand and SD.... Met my future husband in Reno, while I was still running from my past. A year later we married amidst my friends warning he would always be a womanizer...He was, and still is... Hence the new divorce. But I had made a promise before God and witnesses, to stand by my man, and I did, until his guilt ate him up so bad he couldn't stand it anymore...He would rather run away than try to change. That is the big difference between the two of us. That and loyalty. Anyhow, I ran across a few people from Highschool in Reno and was an absolutely rude person to them, mostly because I was still afraid of what I would remember, you know, not the great stuff. For that I apologize sincerely! You can't enjoy the great moments in life if you don't face the bad ones along the way! Can't go back, but can move forward with purpose, and that is where my life coach is taking me! We moved to Las Vegas in December 1986, and life was good. The town was big enough I didn't have to run in to any of my ex's girlfriends. He kept them downtown! Mostly. He went to UNLV and got his degrees, we had our second (2%'r), and I loved my job at Harrah's! I got to see Mr. Lindsey every time he came to town, take care of meals, sometimes getting him a good rate on his room! Life was good. Then came a friend from UNLV... He flew us up to WA to see a project he was working on, The Muckleshoot Casino in Auburn, WA. I, disregard...Expand for more
ing many warnings from friends again, agreed we would move there. I left a very lucrative position with Harrah's, packed up the kids with much trepidation, and drove up to the Pacific NorthWest in January 1995! Just before the blizzard in Enumclaw! Yes, that is where we lived for nearly ten years. The girls loved it finally, after a couple years. Actually my youngest, Jeanette, loved it from day one because she could run over to the fence and call the cows, and they would all come trotting over for her to pet! Candace, not so much, as she was 9 and had to leave a school and friends she had grown up with! Ben got fired from his job for taking a cocktail waitress to Vegas, I retired, he went to work building another club, PJ Pockets, in Federal Way, then got fired again for having 'an affair' in the executive offices. Yeah yeah, I know.... He went to work at the then Freddie's Club in Auburn, and when Fred Steiner died, his club passed to a group of people. They liked Ben's resume, and gave him the GM spot. Two years later, he got offered a GM spot at another club, Chips/Pallace (actually two casinos on the same piece of property) in LaCenter, WA, at exit 16, and he took it before he got fired from Freddie's which had recently changed it's name due to legalities with the other owners, to Iron Horse, with a Harley Davidson theme... We built a house in Woodland, and he didn't even live in it an entire year before he left for Oklahoma (his home state). Insisting he would send for us....That was February 2005. We finally got there in July! I know, big sign, right?.... He left us in July 2006, because 'he wasn't happy and he felt he deserved to be happy all the time'... I pointed out if he was home more that 26 hours a week, maybe things would be different. He wasn't buying that... So, to end a long story, it took me a year to get back to WA. We still own the house in Woodland, I am thinking of putting it on the market, since the judge decided I could have all the debt and he could have his fishing gear, so I owe him $55GRAND... And he has to pay $255. a month child support...Which he hasn't since October...Go Figure, he is petitioning the Court to make me pay him right now... I am working in Hazel Dell at a Child Care facility, I have a CNA certification which is a good thing to have. Means I can assist a nurse, just can't administer drugs... Good people. My daughter Jeanette is finishing up school since I cannot homeschool any longer due to work, at Clark College. She will be done in another 8 weeks, and graduates with the June class. She turns 18 in March, and is getting married in June! 06/07/08! So if any of you are in the area, let me know and I will get you an invitation! Candace, my older one, is 22 married to a Navy man who recently got sent to the John C Stennis Aircraft Carrier in Bremerton, so now she is two hours away as opposed to being a day's plane trip away in South Carolina! YAY! That is pretty much up to date for me, trust me it truly is a short version. I am writing a book, actually two. One is for my girls, one is for me... It is a good way to release things, give them up to the Guy Upstairs, if you will... That's my title by the way,"Giving it up to You" The one for my girls is "Serendipities, such as yourselves". Okay, well, that's it for now. Hope you didn't fall asleep reading this, and if you did, hopefully you will awake refreshed! Have a great day, I decided to this morning!
