Mary's Story
I am currently teaching world and AP European history at Mt. Notre Dame in Cincinnati, Ohio where I reside with my husband. We are about to officially become "empty nesters" when our last child leaves for college this August. Much like the Staples commercial, we will be remodeling our home when it once again is "ours" as opposed to our children's.
My husband write for THE WINE ADVOCATE as well as several foreign publications. Our oldest child graduated from Davidson College (the NCAA Cinderella team) in 2007 and is preparing to enter pharmacy school in Arkansas. Our only daughter graduated from Sewanee - The University of the South this past May and will be attending law school in Charlotte, North Carolina this fall. his junior year at The London School of Economics in Great Britain where he will continue his studies in philosophy and political science. As noted, our youngest son enters college this August - he will be matriculating at his sister's alma mater, Sewanee.
This past year has been a busy one for me. I spent the better part of two weeks in Vienna with my husband visiting art galleries and museums with a focus on the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In November and early December I traveled to Egypt. February found me in Dallas to watch my daughter close out her college swimming career (three of my four children are collegiate swimmers), and just last week I returned from a stay in Colorado where I served as a reader for the AP European history exams.
