Mary's Story
The past week at Olney Central College I conducted a Health Fair for the children in our community. We had 984 students come to the school and learn about diet and exercise. We used an after school program Recharge that is part of the NFL's program called Play 60. This program is to help fight childhood obesity that is becoming epidemic unfortunately. For the past year, I have been working on this program with the local school district. I share it with you because teaching patients about diet and exercise is my passion. This fall I started back to college to work on my masters in Nursing. I am hoping to specialize in Health Promotion.
For fun, I torture myself by attempting to play golf. ;-) I also trained for a couple of tri-athalons this past summer and was lucky enough to get two trophies in my age group. erience at staying at a RIU Resort that was all inclusive. I have found that five days in paradise is my llimit. :-) One can only stand so much of all you can drink and eat of gourmet food. I would highly recommend this chain of resorts to anyone.
For anyone who stayed in Bloomington, I am jealous. I try to get back home once every two months. I miss Bloomington and all its diversity. Olney is a small college community of 8,400 people.
Why am I living in Olney. My wonderful husband Steve has always lived here. I am blessed to have two step-daughters, Rachel and Emma. Miss Emma and I spend a lot of time together. She is in 7th grade and is truely my greatest blessing so far in my life. Miss Rachel is in college and has decided to go into Radio Broadcasting. I wish her the best of luck but know she will do really well in it.
