Mary's Story
Life
Wow high school seems like a lifetime ago. people tell me i still look the same & sometimes i don't feel a day over 21 (of course other days i fell 60). my "adult life" has proven to be very enjoyable.
after high school i did a brief stint in college and decided that i wanted to do a little living before i settled down and got a "real" job. if you remember me from high school your probably remember me as a shy nerdy girl (think wallflower). the life i've led has definitely pulled me out of that stereo type. i spent some time on Block Island (which is off the coast of Rhode Island) and moving from a (fairly) big city life to island life was a BIG change, but one i wouldn't change for anything. then i lived in maine for a while and now back here in massachusetts. you may remember that i have 5 sisters & most are still in this area (Laura was a year ahead of us) they are all well & we all remain extremely close. I lost mom in 1989 but Dad still lives in the house i grew up in.
i have a 10 oops (11 yea...Expand for more
r old) daughter, Emily, whose company i enjoy. i've turned into an outdoor person. i did not grow up hiking & camping, but i've grown to love those activities. in fact in 2004 i did a 5 day canoe trip on the boundry waters on Minnesota.
i eventually earned my BS in mechanical engineering and i am lucky enough to have a job that I LOVE. when my daughter is older i will perhaps go for my masters or law degree. though i love engineering i have found that working with people and helping them is a passion in my life. currently i fulfill that passion by volunteering. i have come to truely believe that people must help each other and philanthropic giving is not only for the wealthy. my favorite international organization is Heifer International-check out their web site. they give livestock (and training) to help people develop and sustain an income source and the reciever must give an offspring to someone else that is in need.
looking to seeing everyone at the 25th.
warmly remembering all fo you,
mary
