Mary's Story

Life Been married 3times/divorced twice-for the last 16yr.(3/22/07)married to a wonderful man who followed me around until he finally got up the nerve to talk to me and after about a month-proposed. He is my soul-mate and for the past 12yrs-we've been self storage managers in Texas,Alabama,Mississippi, Florida and now California. This has been the best retirement anyone could ask for. We've seen so much that most people who were born in the area we live in have never seen. We are casino "freaks" and lived in Biloxi/Gulfport, MS when the casinos were brought in in 1992. We know casinos from San Diego, CA to Sacramento, CA and of course Vegas NV. I have 3 children and 6 grandchildren who live in Brandon, FL, Acworth,GA and Huntington WV. Ya'll know about Huntington WV don't ya??? well - new movie "WE ARE MARSHALL" (my children and I all went there) anyway - my 2nd husband was in some sceens while they shot in Huntington WV and he got my grandaughter in GA also into some sceens. I have pics of her with Matthew Fox (from Lost) and Matthew McCoughney....wow....individual shots of her - in color with those guys arm around her....what a great summer vacation for a 16yr old. The experience was wonderful for her and she has done some commercials and shot an episode of One Tree Hill in Wilmington NC. We are currently in Oxnard CA (near the Pacific Ocean) and love it. I'm sure that we will eventually settle down but for now, we just keep busy with work, family and lots of friends. We hope to come to the 2008 reunion at Saddlebrook and see lots of friends. We had such good times at the ones we have attended. Maybe we'll see YOU ...Expand for more
too. So that's enough about me - how about YOU....email me with a "hello" because I would love to hear from you. College Attended University of South Flordia in Tampa for a short period of time and went to Marshall University's School of Nursing at the age of 40 (during second marriage) finished up during the third marriage. Workplace There is not enough characters to write my profile here.....but my current husband and I are self storage managers in Oxnard CA. This is the best retirement job a person could have. Get paid, benefits, bonus, apt w/utilities, work 5days, vacations, etc. WOW!!!! We are currently working for the best company - family owned....no big corporate crap. What a pleasant change from the large companies we've worked for. Jeans and tennis shoes are the uniform - comfy! (is that a word?) anyway - after the accounting and nursing corporate crap - this storage stuff is great. Neither Johnny nor myself are ready to quite retire - totally.....so doing this is great. Travel-get paid-couldn't ask for anymore. After working - both of us- in large industry, whether K-mart(managing for Johnny) or more paperwork for me in the hospitals.....well, we both said - enough....and hit the road. At 60-I've still got something to offer in the service industry and my husband and I are one of the top rated managers in the self storage business in CA and do the job that we say we can do. From opening(start-up) to turning an in the red facility to the black-we can do it and really love it. The day we can't work together is the day we say-enough and hang it up. Email me with what you DO....I'd love to hear>>>>
