Mary's Story
After high school, I went to SPC for a year and then Texas Tech. Graduated in 1976 with BBA. Why so long? I had three children in between. Lived in Lubbock for a while had another child, then moved to Austin in 1984, moved to Iowa in 1987. Met a fellow postal worker at the Postal Management Academy in Potomac Maryland, married him and moved to Iowa. Worked for the Postal Service for 20 years, got divorced, so that is two marriages in my lifetime, two too many. Moved back to Texas in 2005. Left the Postal Service. I am currently in Bastrop, Texas. I am a clinic manager; love it. God has blessed me with six grandchildren (I have two sons which live in the Phoenix area and I have two daughters that live in The Colony, Texas north of Dallas. ) I have been single for 10 years. I am really glad to be back in Texas and glad that I am single. I love to dance, what woman doesn't. I have learned to appreciate life and all it has to offer. I don't sweat the small stuff anymore. I have learned to appreciate a blade of grass for the part it plays in the universe and have come to realize that I too have a part/place in the universe. I try to make a positive difference in all I do. I believe in letting go of the past and I embrace the present. My favorite phrase is "Carpe Diem".

en my children and grandchildren are with me.
I feel and believe that I still have a lot of living to do and I want to enjoy life while I am still here on earth, don't want to save too much for my next trip here. Want to do it all now. Have developed a "bucket list" with a trip to Maine as item number 1. I want to visit there in the fall when the leaves are at their finest, stay in a quaint fishing village with shops and good food. Want to ride in the country in a convertible, with the top down of course and end the day at a bed and breakfast with a roaring fire, a good wine, wearing my oldest jeans and comfy sweater and sit in a cozy chair with smooth jazz or some R&B in the background...Oh, and most importantly, have a special some one beside me.
There are many other things on my "bucket list", but I will tell you about those some other time.
My intent is to find some of my old school buddies. I keep in touch with Frances Estrada, Annie Machado and Irene Mosqueda...we lost Irma Costilla some time back, but I think of her often...we try to get together once a year. We were great friends back then and we are life friends now...how I love those girls...they keep me young. We always bring out the ole 1969 annual when we meet and think of the ole days back at LHS. That was a great time...
